How good is this photo of Sam!
After a lot of panning, I’m starting to discover a few nuggets of gold in the bottom of the river. This photo pretty much sums up Sam, wearing his trademark cheeky grin whilst purveying exclusively poz vibes.
From about Year 7 Sam conquered the ability to grow a magnificently full bushranger beard, one that became a key tool when looking for him in the surf. Currently he is harder to distinguish at a distance, owing to his current car-salesman tash, for which he opted instead about four months ago.
It’s been a pleasure sharing the small business journey with this man. Sam is remarkably measured at times where surely I am being wildly irrational, and trading knowledge accounting for coffee has been the most fortuitous and pleasant of exchanges; one such of many that give the most magical work-life balance to The Steam Boys (Pty Ltd).
When seeing Sam I can be sober as a judge, and, if we choose to direct conversation so, be uncontrollably laughing within minutes as if I have been punching cones since the afternoon yonder.
With a gleam in his eye Sam will tell you why today is excellent, just like yesterday, and why tomorrow will be excellent too. He is a glorious fellow indeed.
So this is a secret little 'heroes' section. Pretty much everybody I interact with regularly is a bloody legend.
I have an enviably tight group of best mates from school.
I have a range of very close friends I made independently since school finished.
I have a family who exemplify embarrassingly textbook nuclear function and affinity.
I have employees who feel far more like friends than subordinates.
ROLAND YOU LUCKY B*STARD. Yep I know! That’s what this section of the site is all about, I want to pay tribute to those around me who make my life rich.
[ NB If you’re reading this and you’re one of them - sorry if you find this embarrassing but get over it! And also thankyou for everything!!! ]
